FAQs

About the Course

  1. Do I need my own boat or JetSki to do the course?

Boat license training will be undertaken on AquaCraft’s AMSA registered training boat.

Yes you will need access to a Jetski for the practical elements of the course. Your options are:

    • Provide a registered PWC yourself

    • AquaCraft may be able to provide a Jetski (under instruction) for you to use. Limited places.
Contact us about availability. See Terms and Conditions.

  2. What if I can’t access the internet?

Contact us by phone at least 10 working days before the course you wish to do. We will organise an alternative approach.
All paperwork (enrollment form, practice test, agreement to Terms & Conditions, and evidence of ID ) must be provided before the course along with full payment. If you are doing the PWC Endorsement only a copy of your Boat License must be provided and your enrollment name must match the name on your Boat License.

  3. How do I pay if I don’t have access to internet transfer?

    Payment can be made:

    • Directly into our bank account and the remittance statement logged on your Booking Form.

    • Post cheque payment.
Note that your place is not confirmed until full payment has been received. We cannot be held responsible for courses filling during the manual documentation process.

  4. Book a Private Course

We can provide a Private Course at your choice of location (within reason). The location must be safe and appropriate. Additional venue hire and travel fee costs may apply. Please email us (via contact us) to discuss and agree this at the time of booking. We aim to provide 1 trainer for every 8-10 people. Larger groups may be held over more sessions.

MAST related FAQ’s

  1. Where can I find more information about Recreational Boating & PWC (Personal Water Craft) licence course in Tasmania?

At the Marine and Safety Tasmania Website

  2. Why do I need to provide Identification?

This is a MAST (Marine and Safety Tasmania) requirement to enroll in and attend any approved Boat License and/or PWC endorsement Course in Tasmania.
Your identification helps establish who you are to be able to issue your license. It also establishes if you should receive a discount due to your age.

  3. How long does a boat license / PWC endorsement last?

Your Recreational Motor Boat License is valid for a three year period (pro rata). Licenses all have a common expiry date.
It is not a requirement to carry your license when on the water in Tasmania but MAST by-laws stipulate that, if requested, the license must be produced within 14 days.

  4. If I am aged 12-16yo do I still need to provide Evidence of Identity?

Yes. See the requirements for Evidence of Identity information here.

Tip: The easiest documents are usually: Medicare Card (with your name), Parents Drivers License, a Parent’s Drivers License (which will confirm the address) & Birth Certificate. Or an alternative (for 1 of these) Student Identification Card (with photo) or Personal Information Card (with photo - State Govt issued) are also good. If you do not have these see the other forms of ID at the link.
Contact MAST if you are unsure.

  5. I am not sure of my Recreational Motor Boat License Number. Where can I check?

    Check at: MAST License Checker

  6. Do I need a Plastic Boat License/PWC endorsement Card?

Plastic license cards are no longer automatically issued but can be purchased.

  7. How do I register a boat or PWC (Jetski)?
